USGA promotes Craig Annis to Chief Brand Officer, from Managing Director, Integrated Marketing & Communications.

Artie Bayes hired by National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) as Manager of the NBPA’s Off The Court (OTC) Program, from Manager, Alumni & Player Relations, Madison Square Garden.

Amanda Duffy is stepping down as NWSL President on Feb 15, 2020, to become EVP, Orlando Pride, heading both the front office and technical staffs. The NWSL continues to conduct their search for a commissioner with Nolan Partners and will announce Duffy’s replacement later.

Genius Sports and the XFL announce a multi-year partnership with Genius handling the XFL’s sports betting integrity program. This will include a “customized e-Learning portal” for players, coaches, officials, team and league executives, as well as “24/7 monitoring of all pre-game and live betting markets to give the XFL visibility into wagering on its games, and also provide alerts and analysis of all significant odds movements.”

Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans announces an exclusive, multi-year deal with the National Football League, becoming the “Official Mortgage Sponsor of the NFL.” The partnership will kickoff with Super Bowl LIV and the Rocket Mortgage Super Bowl Squares Sweepstakes – the largest official game of Super Bowl squares in history.

The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) and Patricof Co. LLC Investors, a private equity firm focused on professional athletes, announce the creation of the first NBPA Players Accelerator Program, a platform for current and former NBPA members to jump-start individual business ventures and startup ideas. The program will include mentorship and a 3-day “Training Camp” in June 2020.

National Lacrosse League (NLL) and Greenfly announce a partnership to utilize Greenfly Connect to distribute content automatically to more than 250 NLL athletes and expand their social reach and storytelling capabilities exponentially to lacrosse fans everywhere.

Great Clips, Inc. announces a multi-year marketing partnership with the NCAA as the “Official Hair Salon of the NCAA.” Deal includes NCAA March Madness, NCAA Men’s and Women’s Final Four as well as marketing, media and activation rights surrounding all 90 NCAA Championships. Great Clips’ partnership with the NCAA is through a joint agreement with Turner Sports and CBS Sports. Great Clips will introduce its first national marketing campaign in support of its NCAA partnership ahead of the 2020 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) reach an agreement on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) (pending ratification by the players and the league’s Board of Governors). This new eight-year CBA will cover 2020-27 seasons and features a 53 percent increase in total cash compensation for players.

Deloitte and the WNBA announce a multi-year collaboration, naming Deloitte the WNBA’s “Official Professional Services Provider.” As part of the collaboration, Deloitte will join the WNBA Changemakers, a newly established group of organizations who will work closely with the WNBA on high priority issues and business transformation.

Truist Bank and the Atlanta Braves announce that SunTrust Park will be renamed Truist Park, effective immediately.

NLL and Roar Digital–a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and GVC Holdingsannounce a partnership making Roar’s sports betting brand, BetMGM, the NLL’s Official & Exclusive Gaming Partner. This is the first-ever gaming partnership for lacrosse in the U.S.

Big3 announces that it has taken the game shaped over its first three seasons and created a “new global sport: Fireball3.” In addition, Big3 will host sports and entertainment festivals in conjunction with all games. In addition, it will lower the minimum age for players to 22 from 27, “with younger exceptions in hardship cases.” The league will also switch to a new, all-red ball — the “Fireball.”

Score Media & Gaming and the NBA enter into a sports betting partnership. As an NBA Authorized Sports Betting Operator, theScoreBet app gains access to official NBA betting data, including league marks and logos.

MLS San Jose Earthquakes and Intermedia Cloud Communications announce a broad, multi-year partnership that includes the ‘Quakes kit sponsorship. The team will also be “powering all areas of their business with…cloud communications technology, both on and off the field.” San Jose did not have a kit sponsor for 2019.

Swiss watchmaker Norqain and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announce a strategic partnership. Norqain will kick-off the partnership at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game with a presence in the NHLPA All-Star Lounge, interacting with all 44 NHLPA participating players. In addition, Norqain will also produce a limited edition (500 pieces) Norqain NHLPA model timepiece, starting in Sep 2020.

Las Vegas Raiders name MGM Resorts the team’s “Official Gaming Partner” and Founding Partner of Allegiant Stadium. The partnership also designates MGM Resorts as the “Official Home of the Raiders Pre- and Post-Game Party.”

AT&T named the NLL’s first-ever wireless partner. In addition to category exclusivity in the U.S., AT&T will be the Entitlement Partner of the NLL MVP Award. AT&T plans to activate at arenas during NLL games and includes presence on the NLL’s broadcast and social media platforms.

The NFL announces it will play one regular-season game at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico, in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Regular season games have been played in Mexico previously in the 2005, 2006, 2017 and 2019 seasons. Opponents and dates to be announced in conjunction with 2020 schedule release in Spring 2020.

Penn National Gaming enters into an agreement to buy 36 percent of digital media company Barstool Sports for $163 million in cash and convertible preferred stock. Penn National’s initial equity investment for 36 percent of Barstool is approximately $135 million in cash and $28 million in shares of non-voting convertible preferred stock.

Prospect League names Alton, Ill., as the home of the league’s 13th team, to begin play with the 2021 season. The team will be owned by Steve Marso and will play at Lloyd Hopkins Field in Gordon Moore Park in Alton. Team name, branding and colors will be named at a later date.

Major League Soccer (MLS) and U.S. Soccer (USSF) announce an exclusive official data deal with Stats Perform. Facilitated by Soccer United Marketing (SUM), Stats Perform gains rights to exclusively collect, analyze and distribute official ultrafast data and player data to global broadcast, media, betting and professional teams for all MLS, U.S. Open Cup and Men’s and Women’s National Team matches. For the first time, MLS and U.S. Soccer will also offer an official data feed optimized for sports betting operators from all MLS, and select U.S. National Team and U.S. Open Cup matches.
