Sep 3, 2019 – the National Football League and TikTok announced a multi-year partnership to bring NFL content to the TikTok platform globally.

 

Also Sep 3, 2019Giant Food announced it has partnered with NHL Washington Capitals player Alex Ovechkin to release limited edition “Ovi O’s” cereal. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc., a Md.-based non-profit. The cereal is to be released Sept. 17 (Ovechkin’s birthday) and sold at Giant’s D.C. area locations until supplies run out.

 

Sep 4, 2019Empower Retirement and the Denver Broncos announced a 21-year stadium naming rights deal, renaming their field Empower Field at Mile High, pending final approval from Denver’s Metropolitan Football Stadium District. Endeavor represented the Broncos, Catalyst Marketing represented Empower.

 

Sep 5, 2019Twitch and the National Women’s Hockey League announced a three-year exclusive live-streaming partnership starting with the 2019-20 season that begins Oct 5. Twitch will stream all regular season, Isobel Cup Playoff and special event games live. It marks the first time the NWHL will receive a broadcast rights fee.

 

Sep 9, 2019 – The U.S. Soccer Federation announced the retirement of CEO/Secretary General Dan Flynn, effective Sep 16, 2019, with the search for his replacement ongoing. In the interim, current Chief Stakeholders Officer Brian Remedi will add the title of Chief Administrative Officer and handle most of Flynn’s duties until the replacement is hired.

 

Sep 13, 2019 – The Chicago Fire announced that Andrew Hauptman has sold his controlling interest in the team to minority investor Joe Mansueto. In addition, the team confirmed plans to break their lease at SeatGeek Stadium in suburban Bridgeview, Ill., and return to play at Chicago’s Soldier Field. Reports placed the value of the 51 percent stake at $204 million.

 

Sep 15, 2019 – SoFi announced it had agreed to become the naming rights partner of the yet-to-open Los Angeles Stadium & Entertainment District (LASED) at Hollywood Park football stadium that will be the home of the NFL Los Angeles Chargers and NFL Los Angeles Rams. The 20-year deal is reportedly valued at $30 million per season, a venue naming-rights record. The stadium will be called “SoFi Stadium.” Legends represents LASED and negotiated the deal.

 

Sep 17, 2019 – BodyArmor and MLS announced a multi-year partnership making the brand the league’s official sports drink partner in the U.S. As part of the agreement, BodyArmor sports drinks will hydrate MLS players and the company’s logo and branding will be featured on coolers, cups, squirt bottles and towels on MLS sidelines within the U.S. starting in 2020. The deal includes Leagues Cup and Campeones Cup competitions. BodyArmor and MLS also plan to collaborate on exclusive custom content featuring top MLS players and BodyArmor athlete partners.

 

Sep 17, 2019 – the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) announced that the league will add a 2020 Spring/Fall season to their already planned 2020 Summer season. The new Spring/Fall season will feature increased standards for venues, staffing, budgets and referees, in an effort to increase the level of play and competition, with the goal being attracting ownership groups that invest in soccer as a long-term business opportunity. Players will be amateurs or non-paid professionals.

 

Sep 19, 2019 – The Oakland Raiders and Levy Restaurants announced that Levy will handle all food and beverage at new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev., where the Raiders will relocate for the 2020 season.

 

MEDIA

Sep 9, 2019 – FuboTV launched its initial original content and fall programming for the Fubo Sports Network, FuboTV’s free, ad-supported sports streaming network. The company also announced consultant Pamela Duckworth has joined the company as head of Fubo Sports Network.
