Angela de Cespedes joins Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr’s Miami office as Partner, Litigation Practice, from Partner, Shutts & Bowen LLP. de Cespedes has represented professional sports leagues, teams, stadiums, arenas and commercial properties, including the Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium and Freedom Park, the future home of Inter Miami CF.

Xavier Gutierrez named President, CEO and Alternate NHL Governor of the Arizona Coyotes. Of special note, this makes Gutierrez the first Latino team President & CEO in NHL history. Previously, he was Managing Director, Clearlake Capital Group.

Kati Ruthart joins Allen Americans as Director, Digital Marketing & Analytics, a newly created position, from 4FRONT.

William Wesley named EVP & Sr. Basketball Advisor, New York Knicks. Perhaps better known as “World Wide Wes,” Wesley was previously a consultant for CAA in their coaching division.

You First Sports, based in Madrid, Spain, and Tandem Sports & Entertainment, headquartered in Arlington, Va., announce that they have agreed to merge. Jim Tanner, Tandem’s Founder & President will become President, Basketball, North America. A new name for the global agency will be announced in “fall 2020.”

Amazon and Oak View Group announce the naming rights to the new home of NHL Seattle and WNBA Seattle Storm, to be called Climate Pledge Arena in a nod to Amazon’s 2019 Climate Pledge where all signatories commit to be net zero carbon across all their businesses by 2040. The arena is currently undergoing a transformation to construct a brand new arena under the landmark Paul Thiry-designed roof (see rendering above).

Google and National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announce an official partnership for the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. The NWSL will use Google Meet during the Challenge Cup to securely host virtual cheering sections in each club’s home market around the country. Google will present the tournament’s “Best XI Award,” honoring the best player at each position. In addition, players will share their experiences through exclusive content captured at the tournament and shared on NWSL’s and Google’s social channels. Fans will also be able to follow the tournament on Google Search. Searches for “nwsl tournament” or “nwsl schedule” will show the latest updates in a single view, including scores and team standings.

Chicago Red Stars announce Meijer as a presenting partner for the team during the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, with Meijer’s logo to be showcased on the front of all players’ jerseys as well as other activations. W Partners negotiated the sponsorship deal on behalf of the Red Stars.
