The University of Wisconsin is a public land-grant research university located in Madison, Wis. The Badgers compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as a member of the Big Ten Conference.

The football team competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) while the athletic department sponsors 25 varsity sports in total, 12 men's and 13 women's. Teams are known as the "Badgers."
