The University of Iowa is a public research university located in Iowa City, Iowa. The Hawkeyes compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as a member of the Big Ten Conference.

The football team competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) while the athletic department sponsors 24 varsity sports in total, 11 men's and 13 women's. Teams are known as the "Hawkeyes."
