The International League is a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) affiliated league founded in 1884.
The IL together with the Pacific Coast League make up the Triple-A level, the highest level of play below Major League Baseball.
The "International" name comes from its history of teams in Canada and Cuba as well as the U.S. That said, since 2008 all of the league's teams have been U.S.-based.
