The Pittsburgh Steelers are a National Football League (NFL) team based in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the American Football Conference (AFC), joining the NFL as the "Pittsburgh Pirates" Jul 8, 1933, with Art Rooney as owner. Rooney owned the club for 55 years until his passing in 1988, when Art's son, Dan Rooney, became owner. Dan Rooney led the franchise until his death in 2017 and now most control of the franchise falls to Dan's son . . .
