The Boston Red Sox were founded in 1901 as one of the original eight teams in the new American League. The Major League Baseball club has played at Fenway Park (current capacity: 37,755 for day games, 37,305 for night games) now the oldest stadium in MLB, since 1912. The next oldest park is the Chicago Cubs' Wrigley Field, which opened in 1914 (the Cubs began playing there for the 1916 season).
