Disabled Sports USA and Adaptive Sports USA announce a merger, with the new organization to be named Move United. Move United works “to fully include people with disabilities in American society, using sport to challenge perceptions and redefine ability for youth and adults with disabilities.”

The NWSL announces the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup presented by P&G and Secret that marks post-COVID–19 return to action for all nine clubs. The 25-game tournament will kick off on June 27, 2020, at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah. The semifinals and Final presented by Budweiser will be played at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah, with the Championship match slated for July 26, 2020. Both the tournament opener and the Final will air on CBS Network and be streamed on the CBS All Access subscription service. All other games will be live on CBS All Access in the U.S. and Canada and will re-air on CBS Sports Network. In addition, P&G/Secret and Verizon are unveiled as new sponsors.

Following the cancellation of the Boston Marathon mass participation event due to the COVID-19 pandemic by Boston Mayor Martin Walsh, the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) announces that the 124th Boston Marathon will be held as a virtual event, complemented by a series of related virtual events, throughout the second week of Sep. It is the first cancellation in the history of the race. Originally scheduled for Apr 20, the marathon was rescheduled to Sep 14 on Mar 13.
