Peregrine Sports, LLC, is a Portland, Ore.-based sports team-focused holding company whose primary owner is Henry Merritt Paulson III.
Peregrine owns the Major League Soccer Portland Timbers, the National Women's Soccer League Portland Thorns FC and the Timbers' eMLS eSports team.
Paulson formed Shortstop, LLC, in 2007 to acquire sports franchises. In May 2007, Shortstop purchased the AAA Pacific Coast League Portland Beavers (who became the Tucson Padres 2011-13 then El Paso Chihuahuas 2014-present) and the Portland Timbers (then a USL Pro League team) from Abe Alizadeh, a Calif. businessman.
