The Seattle Kraken are a National Hockey League (NHL) expansion team that began play with the 2021-22 season, in the rebuilt Climate Change Arena (f.k.a. Key Arena; NHL capacity: 17,151) in downtown Seattle, Wash.

The NHL awarded the team on Dec 3, 2018, with Seattle Hockey Partners, led by David Bonderman, Jerry Bruckheimer and Tod Leiweke, selected as the ownership group.
