National Women’s Soccer League Players Association (NWSLPA) was formed in May 2017, led by former NWSL player Yael Averbuch, and former WPS player, Meghann Burke.

The NWSLPA is the officially recognized union of NWSL players who are not federation "allocated" players. Federation players are those signed to contract with their national, or federation, teams.

Currently, the NWSLPA represents approximately 200 players from 19 soccer federations across the 10 NWSL teams.
