The D.C. Defenders are one of the eight founding teams of the new XFL professional football league to launch the weekend of Feb 8-9, 2020, the weekend immediately following the National Football League’s Super Bowl.

The XFL announced teams and their venues Dec 5, 2018, with team names, logos and branding released Aug. 21, 2019.

The Defenders are scheduled to play home games at Audi Field (20,000, opened 2018) in Washington, D.C. Audi Field is also the home of the MLS D.C. United.
