The Colorado Rapids are a charter Major League Soccer (MLS) club based in the Denver suburb of Commerce City, Colo.

The Rapids were officially founded June 6, 1995, and began play with the league's inaugural 1996 season and originally owned by Anschutz Corporation. Kroenke Sports & Entertainment bought the team in 2004.
