The team was founded in 1987 as the Baltimore (Md.) Thunder (1987-99), before one season as the Pittsburgh (Pa.) CrossFire and two seasons as the Washington (D.C.) Power (2001-02) before relocating, and anchoring down, to Denver in 2003.
