On July 4, the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) announced Raleigh International FC as a new league member for the 2020 Spring Season. Based in Raleigh, N.C., the team will begin play in the UPSL Mid-Atlantic Division, and play home games at WRAL Complex. (link)
On July 24, p1440, the volleyball-centric digital media platform co-founded by Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings, announced the company’s first Series A investor, Theresia Gouw, co-founder of Aspect Ventures. Gouw will also join p1440’s Board of Directors. (link)
On July 26, the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and the University of Connecticut announced that they had reached an agreement to waive the conference’s mandated 27-month notice. This clears the way for the school join the Big East Conference in July 2020. Per multiple reports, UConn will pay a $17 million exit fee rather than the AAC’s standard $10 million fee. (link)
