The Flint Firebirds are an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) team playing out of Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center (capacity: 4,021) in Flint, Mich., since 2015.
The Firebirds trace their roots back to the 1990-91 season, when the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors were added as an OHL expansion team.
For the 1992-93 season, the franchise became known as the Detroit Junior Red Wings. Then, with the 1995-96 season, the team was renamed the Detroit Whalers.
